The best thing to do to battle humidity for those of us with breathing problems, is to try to remain in a controlled environment. This means, if you have to stay indoors with the air conditioner on while it rains or when it's hot outside, then that's what you have to do. An air conditioner will help maintain a controlled enironment indoors and should allow you some comfort.
Whether or not it's hot or cold outside, breathing in damp dense air, can cause people to tire quickly, even if you don't have breathing problems. But for those of us who do have problems, there are ways to battle it.
I have a dehumidifier that I just plug into the wall and let it suck out the water from the room air. Sometimes there's a bunch of water that gathers in the bucket that sits behind the machine. In fact, there are times where I've had to dump the bucket out several times in a day.
I also breathe more with my diaphragm muscles (stomach area) when I get tired. It helps relieve the muscles around my neck and ribs from the strain of breathing so hard.
Are there ways that you battle humidity and breathing problems?
